jane leo - "tell me"

Directed/Shot/Edited/VFX by Gille Klabin

Produced by Jane Bryant, Daniel Leopold

The band Jane Leo wanted a dark, stylish, and cinematic music video for their debut single. They wanted to shoot in the summer of 2020 and wanted something that felt cool but didn't take itself too seriously.

They approached Gille after seeing his film and asked if there was something he could pull off with no crew. So on a drive across the country he stopped near Austin and spent two days shooting a neon-noir, dark love story to accompany their first single "Tell Me". Embracing every facet of affordable modern technology, the video was shot on an iPhone 11s with an anamorphic adapter, used on a gimbal. There were 2 LED panel lights that were shuffled around and repurposed for different scenes. In the edit color was used as a slow building characet in the video, and isolated highlights were manipulated to create the iconic VFX.

The video was released in 2021 and was nominated for best music video in 9 festivals, winning the award at 3 of them, including "Venice Shorts" and the "Los Angeles Film Awards"
